ANIME/MANGA PURGE

I got this from a friend who was reading majority of the Elsword forums.

BEWARE ANIME AND MANGA FANS. JAPAN IS PLANNING TO SHUT DOWN MAJOR ANIME/MANGA WEBSITES THAT YOU EITHER WATCH OR DOWNLOAD~!

Japanese Government Enforcing Anti-Piracy Law on Anime and Manga
Image List: [x]
Original Source: [x]

"youtube" yeah this is gon go far

no way they gonna get pirate bay
if half of the EU and the us cant shut em down what makes you think japan is gonna get close

nippon government, folded over a thousand times

Can they really do anything about foreigners reading/watching their media though? If I understand this right, their licensing only covers the EXACT original works as you see them when they air, like with any other show from around the world. You could flip the video and upload it and they theoretically wouldn’t be able to do anything about it, it’s not the exact original content (They do this with movies as I understand it for streaming sites). Following this, the theoretical worst that will happen is all your subs for anime will be hard subbed from now on (you wont be able to make gifs without the subs there), and your manga might take a little longer to get updated because the raw untranslated versions fall in their jurisdiction. A lot of people in the U.S. read/watch pirated media from japan, yeah, but I wonder if japan can really take down said media from all these places when almost all of it is altered with unofficial fan translations and added subtitles, theoretically putting it out of their jurisdiction for any copyright infringement. I’m no expert, but food for thought maybe? Something worth looking into I guess.
